What is the BC Book Drop?

Sharing a book and the experience of the read with someone else is the next best thing to reading and collecting for many a true book enthusiast. What better way to share the excitement and passion than by literally passing a book along to another bibliophile.

If you are not comfortable dropping the book in a public place, why not donate your books to a local charity, library, hospital or retirement home, and pass along the joy of reading!

This keeps books in circulation and helps the environment by recycling. As an added bonus, it is simply fun to see where it travels, what the reader thought of the book and make that connection with a fellow book lover. Remember, if you just can't part with a favorite book, or collect rare books, you can always obtain a copy of your favorite book to drop and share. Check out our classifieds, you might find an extra copy there!

Download the labels, insert your Biblio Connection user name and insert it into a book. Drop the book in a public spot (park bench, subway or bus seat, local coffee shop, etc.). Imagine people finding copies of books in unexpected places!

If you drop or donate a book: Login and tell the community which book you dropped and where you left it. Give your thoughts on the book – good or bad.

If you find a book: Take it. Login and tell the community what book you found, where you found it and which member dropped or donated it.  Read it, enjoy it and then keep it moving forward by dropping it in a new location for the next lucky reader. And don't forget to at least send a message to the member that dropped the book to say thank you.

Share your excitement and passion for books – drop a book today!

Christopher Paolini

"Books should go where they will be most appreciated, and not sit unread, gathering dust on a forgotten shelf, don't you agree?"

The key goal of the Book Drop is to share the joy of reading. Whether you drop a book or donate it, by attaching a little bit of information to the book, you may just connect with another book lover and share the experience of the book. And wouldn't it be fun to simply know where your book has traveled?

Before dropping a book either write a note inside or print a label from your home computer. It may even be helpful to place a note on the outside of the book as an alert that the book is meant to be taken - some folks may be hesitant to pick it up thinking that it was mistakenly left and the owner may be back looking for it.
